Charles Iliya Krempeaux is a Canadian technologist, Internet entrepreneur, software engineer, and author with over three decades of industry experience.
Based in Metro Vancouver, he has been a foundational figure in several prominent tech companies and startups, and is known for building core Internet and financial technologies.
In addition to his corporate work, Charles is an active member of both the open-source community and the ActivityPub developer community.
Charles is also highly involved in local technology meetups and conferences.
He is the founding organizer of the annual Fediverse conference: FediCon.
And, he founded and was the lead organizer for the first and largest artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data science community in western Canada.
He is also active on the Fediverse under the username @reiver@mastodon.social.

Charles is the founding CTO of the first neo-bank in Canada — Koho Financial. He was principal software engineer & architect at one of the largest video game companies in the world — Electronic Arts (EA). Charles was one of the 4 original senior engineers at the social media company Hootsuite — which was at one point the most popular Twitter app in the world. He was the original head of engineering at one of the two major identity verification services in Canada — Trulioo. Charles was the founding engineer at the first ad network in existance — which was purchased by Microsoft and later sold to Facebook/Meta. Charles is the founding CEO at decentralized social-media infrastructure company — SpaceHost.
